GMP History

1970
Générale de Manutention Portuaire was created when Compagnie Générale Transatlantique merged with Messageries Maritime de la Compagnie Générale Maritime. GMP was created by merging their handling divisions into a single entity.
1976
As a consequence of the development of container traffic, GMP moved to the Quai de l'Europe to handle the first container ships.
1992
To cope with the constant increase in volumes handled and the size of ships, GMP operates the Quai des Amériques and welcomes the first Post Panamax ships.
2006
At Port 2000, the Terminal de France, operated by GMP, is operational with 2 berths and 6 OverPanamax gantry cranes. This terminal takes advantage of the latest technological advances combined with a strategic geographical location.
2018
GMP acquires the service concession for berths 11 & 12 at Port 2000.
